Finding a new gym

About Me

Finding a new gym

I love going to the gym and exercising each week. I recently moved to a new city for work so I've just had to find a new gym. There is a lot to think about when you sign up to a new gym including what kind of contracts you need to sign up to, as well as the opening hours of the gym and the type of classes and equipment that they have on offer. This blog is a guide for gym-goers and those interested in trying out new exercise methods to be able to compare local gyms or available recreation activities to see which might best meet their needs and workout styles and patterns.

3 Tips for a Successful Black Marlin Fishing Charter

Australia is known for it's diverse wildlife and stunning views. Home to the Great Barrier Reef and well known for its shark cage diving and whale watching, it also provides some of the best big game fishing locations in the world. Home of the black marlin, the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns is the perfect spot to land a prize-winning fish on one of its many commercial and private fishing charters.

Black Marlin the King of the Reef

The black marlin is a popular big game fish because of its immense strength and incredible speed, reaching speeds of up to 80mph with enough force to unreel a fishing line. However, if you're looking to land a 700-1000 pound marlin, then the best time to fish is between September and December. The larger females are often accompanied by many smaller males, dramatically increasing to chance of landing a catch.

Wait for the Full Moon

It is also said that marlin are generally easier to catch during a full moon and for 6-7 days following it, because the marlin's prey tends to surface, forcing the fish to hunt nearer to the surface as well in order to feed. An experienced captain will know where the prime fishing spots are and so it's important to talk to the captain before booking any commercial trip, ensuring that you're taken to the best locations possible to increase your chance of catching a prize winning fish.

Lure It In

Using the correct live bait is essential to attract as many marlin as possible and further increase your chances of success. Skipjack tuna provides the perfect live bait which can be caught and held in "tuna tubes", keeping the fish alive and healthy until needed. Alternatively a large livewell container could be used in which to house larger quantities of fish, keeping them healthy and stress free to ensure they stay energised and alive in order to provide maximum movement when cast into the sea. With both tube and livewells a good supply of water is essential to provide ample amounts of oxygen for the fish.

Experience for an Angler

Black marlin fishing is something that every angler should experience in their lifetime. Following these basic tips will ensure a much higher level of success and provide everyone on board with the chance to land one of the greatest fish in the ocean.
